We bought this because of the great reviews we read. Well, it didn't work for us.
We put chocolate, dog kibble, bacon, and peanut butter on kibble in it to bait it.
Didn't catch a thing. Batteries don't last very long in it either. Resorted to using
poison packs to get the rat. Go cheaper and get the poison. This was alot of money
for nothing. Not happy with it at all.

I had a field mouse sneak into my house a couple of months ago through a torn screen (from my kids pushing on it to pet the dog). I caught him twice with a bowl, but he got away and we lost him under my couch. I tried everything-a catch and release trap, two glue traps, traditional mouse traps, and a folding fly paper trap. None of them worked. But the very first night I set the Rat Zapper Ultra out, I had a dead mouse the next morning. It's kind of expensive, but well worth it considering I spent almost as much trying all of the other methods first. Save yourself some time, frustration and money and try this first.

I've owned two of these traps for over 10 years now and they've killed dozens upon dozens of mice, wood rats and even a grey squirrel and flying squirrel! The latter was getting into my pigeon loft and killing the young squabs in the nest, until I placed one of the half-eaten nestlings in the trap and next morning, I saw a bushy tail sticking out of the end of the trap.........mission accomplished!

Until now, my biggest complaint, like many other on this forum, was the battery replacement issue. I've solved the problem by being more diligent in 'policing' the traps and emptying them before the red light flashes for too long: I'm sure that leaving a trap in that condition for days quickly drains the batteries. This has seemed to work OK, that plus I have a battery checker that I periodically check the 'health' of the batteries with.

The initial cost is high compared to snap traps and poison, but the ease of using these traps makes up for it: it's easy to remove an expired rodent, just tilt the trap and dump him out, no need to touch him. And no more stinking, smelling, poisoned, dead mice or rats to try to locate after they've expired from poisoned bait.

I once had a whole 'family' of mice in a little greenhouse room off of the master bedroom and I used these traps and caught the entire bunch of them in a day! Every time I'd check, the red lights would be flashing away, signalling the doom on yet another rodent! You can even keep using the same bait, since it doesn't get spoiled or contaminated since the critter 'assumes room temperature' long before he has a chance to 'chomp' the bait!
