I actually purchased this from Amazon several months ago, but had to put it on standby as my son was not large enough to use it. We just installed it last week however,now that he's of size.

He's 2.5, and by most accounts, he's probably the size of a toddler 6 months older then him. (generally 80-90% in both height and weight).

The seat itself is generally a great value for the money. The materials, frame and overall padding seems very adequate. However, The side "wings" are WAAYYYYYYYYYY too narrow. Now, the reason why I gave it 3 instead of 1 star, is because my son says "yes" when asked if it's comfortable. But then again, when asked if he has to pee, he says "no", then proceeds to piss his pants. So take that with a grain of salt.

When he sits in it, his shoulders are pressing very firmly into the side of the seat. To the point where they're almost being pushed forward with the rest of his body sinking into the back. Being that this seat is supposed to accommodate kids almost 3 times his weight and height, I can not imagine how the hell they're sitting in there comfortably. For now, we've left it installed to give it a fair chance. Fortunately, it's our secondary eat (primary is a Britax Roundabout) and only drive around town with it. I have to say, I don't think I would subjugate my kid into taking a road trip in it. The "shoulder push" forward is so pronounced by the narrow width, I'd actually be concerned that his shoulders and/or muscles would get injured during a long drive.

Not saying this is a bad seat, hence 3 not 1 star, but I think it's definitely not designed to accommodate all kids. If your kid can fit in it perfectly fine, it's a great value.

Unfortunately, I ordered this seat through an Amazon vendor since it was not available via Amazon Prime. Never again. Although the product got to me fine, and the company was fine with me returning it, the shipping cost was 45 bucks to return a 75 dollar seat. Considering the possible toss up for older children,and the non-Amazon Prime status inflating return shipping costs, I'd probably advise you to look at another seat if you have concerns about your childs size and the narrowness of thisseat.

This is the second Recaro car seat I have purchased. The first being my son's previous car seat. Recaro makes well designed seats with clear instructions that have fit well into my vehicles (04 Subaru Outback, 96 Acura Intregra, and now an 05 Odyssey). I strongly recommend this car seat.
